How Did That Get There

Last day in Venice 16th Oct 2018
A little lunch before I leave ...
Oh, how did that get there ...

The mid-day bells strike again,
I heard them once before.
They're full of life and loud,
A sound you can't ignore.
The empty restaurant fills up now,
A magnet I must be,
A thing Bev used to comment on,
Wherever we would be.
So Ive got my cheese and nice fresh bread,
And waiting for my lunch.
It's coming soon, it has to be,
According to my hunch.
And there it is, spot on time,
Spaghetti Carbonara,
So now I'll eat, cos I can't find,
A rhyme for Carbonara.
Some folk are strange, the English couple,
Where to sit they couldn't say,
She can choose, the guy just said,
Cos she'll be the one to pay.
I sit and watch as life goes by
And people come and go.
In a hundred years, we'll all be gone,
And who will ever know.
Now I don't mean to be so morbid,
But it's worth a thought or two,
When you think about mortality, What's it mean to You?
And in conclusion ...
A cappuccino and maybe ice cream!
