Hope for Sunday

Sunday Church is family, a place to feel at home,

It took a while to be as such,  but now I feel I'm known.

It's all about identity. You're two, and then your one,

And then you have to be quite brave, walk in, but please don't run (away).

Community groups don't grow on trees, but grow, well yes they do,

We prayed for more, for God to work, He's doing something new.

'You give and take away', we sang and I have done it too,

It means much less, til tears are shed because you know it's true.

As Paul before accusers found,

for stuff he didn't do,

He lost his freedom, but we see him, share the good news too.

So unjust and cruel it seems, but take the wider view,

He didn't care about himself, just told the truth he knew.

And now, there is an Advocate,

Who puts the case for you,

He's standing right beside us, when we declare him true.

And in the stormy waters, when it seems all hope has gone,

By miracles he walks to us, and helps to right the wrong.

And then we wonder why, we worried all along.

And finally, finally, finally, when all is said and done,

If you want to find forgiveness, then look to God's own Son.

He's taken all your guilt away, will wash your conscience clean,

And you don't need to do a thing 'cept believe it, as you've seen,

His work is done, there is no more, the rest is up to you,

Eternal life, he's offering and it will make you new.

And if there's unforgiveness then you need to put it right, do it now no time to waste and walk out in the light.
