Lest we forget

This poem was inspired after watching a short video by evangelist Steve Lee. Feel free to watch and share. https://youtube.com/shorts/Jt1UqedFx2I?si=mTdqwdkinVvIBjyNI.
I watched a little film today,
The London blitz in 'WORLD' War two.
And as I let that thought sink in,
I have some thoughts for you.
_______
I've traveled half the world or more,
Its size just blows my mind,
Imagining it ALL at war,
Just staggering I find.
Millions on millions of lives I discern,
Wiped away like a dusty shelf,
Never to return...
I've known such heartbreak, over just a few,
I cannot fathom millions too.
_______
London's mums and dads in bits,
Sent kids away, to miss the blitz.
Sacrificing self, to give them life,
And overcome such fearful strife.
And as in all the world, there rose
That human spirit, which heaven knows,
Emerged somehow, through all the pain,
With strength and trust in God again,
Conquered all the fear and won,
Freedom for the living ones.
_______
For God the Father, knew their pain,
His one and only son was slain,
Another sacrifice of Love,
Brought freedom and a home above.
If death's the end and there's the sting,
Then futile war, no hope can bring.
But I believe it's not, you see,
For Jesus gave his life for me,
And so, there's hope for evermore,
For us and those who went before.
